How to Sharpen Leatherman Scissors

Leatherman is a popular manufacturer of multi-tools. These small hand-held devices have everything from knives, saws, screwdrivers and even scissors. With continuous use of Leatherman scissors, the blades can become dull and less capable of cutting material. When this happens, you can sharpen the blades to bring the scissors back to their original cutting capabilities. The scissor sharpening process requires no previous experience and only take a few minutes to complete.

Things You'll Need

• Paper towel
• Sharpening stone

Instructions

1. Wipe the scissor blades clean with a paper towel to get rid of any dirt or grime.

2. Open the scissors so the two blades form a 90-degree angle at the hinge.

3. Hold a sharpening stone so it sits flush with one of the scissor blades.

4. Stroke the stone across the blade from the hinge to the tip in a quick, steady motion. Repeat this until you are satisfied with the sharpness of the blade.

5. Repeat the process for the other scissor blade.

Tips & Warnings

• Diamond files can also be used, but be cautious with them as they strip metal away quicker than a traditional sharpening stone.
