How to Draw Cloth Faces
If you lack the ability to embroider a face onto cloth dolls, drawing a face is a fuss-free alternative. There are several mediums you can use to draw on a face, and each choice has its own benefits. Crayons are an inexpensive medium, but they tend to snag on the fabric and do not give you smooth results. Permanent markers glide more smoothly along the fabric, but they have a tendency to bleed. The best choice is a fabric marker, which is permanent, glides well on fabric and won't bleed. Once the medium is chosen, the drawing process will go much more smoothly.

Draw two ovals for the eyes, halfway down the head. This will make the doll have realistic facial proportions.

Draw a circle inside of the ovals. Draw a smaller circle inside of the first. Color the smallest circle black and the ring around the small circle blue, brown, green or any other preferred eye color.

Draw several quick dash lines from the top of the eyes outward for eyelashes.

Draw a wide, curved line over each eye for an eyebrow.

Place the drawing tool between the two eyebrows and draw a long J shape for the nose. On each side of the nose draw a C-shape. Make sure the opening of the "C" faces the nose on each side. This is the fleshy outer part of the nose.

Draw a wide, curvy M shape for the upper lip with a red or pink drawing tool. Draw a curved line for the bottom lip. The M shape and the curved line can be touching at the edges or not, depending on the look you are going for. When the lines aren't touching, the mouth seems to be open. When they aren't touching, the mouth seems to be closed.

Tips & Warnings
Always test your drawing medium on a spare piece of fabric that is of the same type as your cloth doll to see how the medium will react with the fabric.
