How to Make Magnetic Stickers for Vehicles
If you've ever had to clean up your car for sale, you probably know the painful experience of removing bumper stickers. Not only are they hard to scrape off, but you destroy the sticker in the process. Rather than go through all that, you can instead turn your favorite bumper sticker into a magnet that is easily applied to the back of your car and just as easily removed. All you need are a few simple tools.

1
Place your bumper sticker over the top of the magnetic strip, aligning it with one of the strip's edges. You can find magnetic strips in most hobby stores. They have a magnetic side and a sticky side covered with masking. If your magnetic strip is thinner or smaller than your bumper sticker, get several of them and lay them side by side before putting your bumper sticker on top.
-
2
Use a pencil to trace around the bumper sticker, creating a faint outline on the magnetic strip. Remove the bumper sticker.

3
Cut the magnetic strip along the outline using a pair of scissors. Magnetic stripping is usually thin and soft enough to be easily cut with scissors. However, if you meet resistance use a sturdy knife instead.
-
4
Turn the magnetic strip so that the side with the masking faces up. Peel the masking off.
-
5
Peel the masking off of the back of your bumper sticker. Hold the sticker by its corners and do not let it stick to itself. Touch two of the sticker's corners to two corresponding corners on the magnetic strip.
-
6
Lay the sticker across the magnetic strip slowly and carefully. Place your fingers along the edges to help guide the sticker into alignment with the magnetic base.
-
7
Run a thumbnail over the surface of the sticker to ensure that it thoroughly bonds with the strip. Apply your sticker to your car.

Keep your magnetic sticker away from credit cards and electronics, as the magnetic strip can scramble them.
