DVDs place their data in the VOB container.

The MPG or MPEG file format, developed and released by the Moving Picture Experts Group, contains highly compressed video content designed for distribution and sharing over the Internet. The VOB format, on the other hand, appears most often as the standard DVD file format, placed inside the DVD's VIDEO_TS folder. Many freeware online conversion sites can transform MPGs into MPEGs.
