How to Troubleshoot a Bryant HVAC

Air Conditioning Problems

Check to ensure that the thermostat is set in the "cool" position.

Check the circuit breakers in the circuit breaker box to see if they're in the "on" position.

Check the outdoor air conditioning unit disconnect switch, which should be set to "on." The disconnect switch will be near the unit. It's usually an 8-inch-wide gray box mounted to the wall.

Ensure that the blower motor in the furnace is switched to "on."

Check the furnace filter. If it is blocked, replace it with a new one.

Ensure that none of the return air grilles are blocked by furniture or other items.
Gas Furnace Problems

Check that the thermostat is in the "heat" position.

Adjust the temperature setting so that it's higher than the indoor temperature showing on the thermostat.

Ensure there is power to the furnace. You can check this by turning on the thermostat's fan switch.

Tips & Warnings
Furnace filters that are 1 inch thick should be changed monthly. Bigger filters can be changed every other month.
Do not attempt to dismantle the system or access its electrical or mechanical components.
