With Yahoo! Messenger, you can engage in live, one-on-one video and sound chats with other Messenger users. Such video calls use your computer's webcam, speakers and microphone. Yahoo! Messenger has a setup process that will help you get started using your webcam in conjunction with Messenger. Soon you'll be holding video calls with friends and family around the world.

      Hook up your webcam to the computer if it isn't already. A lot of webcams are ready to use after the drivers are automatically installed when they are plugged in. If your camera came with a CD, install the software from the CD as well.

      Open and log in to Yahoo! Messenger on your computer.

      Click "Help" at the top of the program.

      Select "Set up Video and Voice" to begin setting up your webcam with Messenger.

      Set up the microphone. Speak the sentence listed into your microphone if you have one and click "Next."

      Set up the speakers. Listen for the sound and adjust the volume. Click "Next" when done.

      Set up the camera. Select the camera you want to use from the list. You should see a preview video of yourself on the window. Click "Finish" when you are done.
