How to Block Hotmail Contacts

Hotmail is a free email service provided by the Microsoft Corporation. One feature of Hotmail is that you can block people from sending you email. This is useful if someone has ignored your requests to remove you from his mailing list. After you add a contact's email address to the "Blocked senders list," you won't have to worry about receiving messages from that address again.

Instructions

    • 1

Sign in to your Hotmail account with your email address and password. You will be taken to your account overview.

    • 2

Click the "Options" button located to the top right of the page. Select "More Options" from the drop-down menu. You can make changes to your account here.

    • 3

Look to the "Junk e-mail" section when the Options page opens. Click "Safe and blocked senders." You can block a Hotmail contact here.

    • 4

Click "Blocked senders" when the "Safe and blocked senders" page opens.

    • 5

Enter the address of a contact you want to block in the form next to "Blocked e-mail address or domain." After you add the e-mail address, click "Add to list." The contact will now be blocked from sending you e-mails.

Tips & Warnings

  • The "Blocked senders list" isn't only for email addresses; you can add a domain to the list as well. For example, if you receive unwanted emails advertising "examplesite.com," you can add the site to the "Blocked senders list" and will no longer receive email from the domain.
