Remove Shared Files From a Temp Folder

Removing shared files from the temporary Internet browsing history folder (otherwise known as the temp folder), must be done through the hard drive in your computer. The temp folder stores data such as web pages, html documents, audio, gif images, and many other types of files. Every web browser, such as Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer and others, uses this folder to store files.

Instructions

    • 1

Open "My Computer" and click on the main hard drive, which is usually "Local Disk (C:)."

    • 2

Access the "Documents and Settings" folder. Within the folder, you will see all the users that use the computer. Open the folder with the name of your user account (i.e., John).

    • 3

Double-click the "AppData" folder and then select the "Local" folder.

    • 4

Open the temp ("Temporary Internet Files") folder and locate the shared files. Right-click all of the shared files and select "Delete." The shared files will be removed from the temp folder.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you are having a hard time locating the shared files in step 4, right-click the toolbar above the list of files that says "Name" and choose the "More..." option. A window will appear called "Choose Details." Scroll down in the detail options and put a check in the box next to "Shared." Click "OK" to save the changes. The shared files will now be listed on the top of the list of files
