Measure from the outside of the right arm, up and around the back of the sofa and down to the end of the outside of the left arm. This measurement is the maximum body width.

3
Look for a slipcover made specifically for sofas. Compare your sofa's measurements to the recommended size on the packaging.
-
4
Remove any throw pillows from the couch. Remove old slipcovers by simply pulling the slipcover out from between the cushions, then off the entire couch.
-
5
Drape the new slipcover over the couch according to the manufacturer's directions. Ensure the slipcover is facing in the right direction.
-
6
Pull the slipcover around the arms and over the cushion of the sofa. Stretch slipcovers will have a tighter fit, while loose slipcovers must be tucked. Tuck loose slipcovers around the edges and in between the sofa cushions using a spatula.
