How to Connect to Wireless Internet at a Coffee Shop
If you've ever visited a coffee shop, you may have noticed a few people using their laptops. Many coffee shops provide complimentary Wi-Fi Internet access, allowing patrons to use the Web while enjoying their favorite beverage. If you're itching to try this yourself, you can be browsing the Web while sipping a latte in no time.
Instructions
-
-
1
Open the "Start" menu, then click "Control Panel."
-
2
Double-click the "Network Connections" icon to open the Network Connections box.
-
-
3
Under the "LAN or High-Speed Internet" heading, double-click the item labeled "Wireless Network Connection."
-
4
Click the "View Wireless Networks" button and search for a wireless network that has the same name as the coffee shop. If such a network does not exist and you are unsure of which network to choose, ask one of the employees.
-
5
Select the network to highlight it, then click the "Connect" button at the bottom of the box. If you are asked for a password, it is because the coffee shop is trying to lock noncustomers out of the wireless network. Simply ask an employee for the password and enter it.
-
6
Once connected, open your Web browser. If your browser navigates straight to your home page, you're connected. If you are redirected to a page set up by your coffee shop or its Internet service provider, proceed to Step 7.
-
7
If you've been redirected, you are likely looking at a "Terms and Conditions" page set up by your coffee shop. Read the agreement carefully and accept the terms and conditions by clicking "OK."
