Instructions

  1. Softening Bread

    • 1

Check the bread for mold. If there are any green or blue spots on it, discard immediately.

    • 2

If the bread looks mold-free, hold it over the steam from a pressure cooker or from a pan of hot water. The vapor combined with the heat will cause the bread to soften, making it edible again.

    • 3

Another solution is to brush milk over the stale bread and place it in a 275-degree oven for about 10 to 15 minutes. The milk will soften the interior of the bread and the heat from the oven will make the outside crispier.

    • 4

To slice it (since this can be hard if the bread is too soft), hold a knife close to a flame until the blade is heated. Slicing with this warm blade should make it much easier.

Tips & Warnings

  • Wear oven mits while handling the bread since it can be very hot.
