They range in price from under $30 to several hundred dollars. If you have a car seat that you will no longer need and is in good condition, it would be a great idea to donate it. This will allow for someone who cannot afford a brand new car seat for their child to have a good quality child safety seat.

1. Inspect the child safety seat. Give the car seat in question a look-over. Make sure all pieces are in good working order and are not damaged in any way. Look for the manual and any other information that came with the safety seat.

2. Search the Internet with the make and model number of the seat to ensure that it was never recalled or had any safety warnings. You must also be sure it was never in a car accident. If it was, it should be disposed of.

3. Find a place to donate the seat. Search the Internet or the Yellow Pages to find a reputable donation site to donate the seat to. Some donation sites located in Maine include Salvation Army and Goodwill. You can also donate to a local children's consignment shop.
