How to Make Cave Borders for Scrapbook Pages
Give a cave scrapbook layout a "pop" with decorative borders that reflect the cave theme. The border may separate the page in half, surround a series of photos or outline the side and top of a layout. The cave layout may be a memory page about building and decorating a "man cave." Cave-themed layouts can reflect a spelunking expedition, vacation tour or caving hobby. A cave-themed birthday or costume party scrapbook layout can be decorated with an artistic or graphic border.

Instructions

Hand-Drawn Border
-
1
Place a straight edge or ruler against the paper for a guide.
-
2
Draw the outline of a cave, stalactites or other cave-related items across or down the layout.
-
-
3
Color in the design with scrapbooking chalk, pencils or pens. Add highlights with a light-colored ink to give dimension to the drawings.
Hand-pieced Sticker Border
-
4
Place a ruler on the layout or piece of scrapbooking paper. Mark the border line with a pencil for a sticker placement guide.
-
5
Choose miniature bats, letters, caving tools or figures that are reminiscent of hieroglyphics to place on the border. Letters can be used to spell out the name of a cave or spelunking group as a border.
-
6
Peel the letters from their protective packaging. Place directly onto the border layout or onto a small piece of paper to be adhered to the page.
Rubber-Stamped Border
-
7
Choose images that match the cave theme. Design a "man cave" border with rubber-stamp images of a television set, exercise equipment, pool table and sports gear.
-
8
Select pieces of scrapbook paper to hand-stamp images on for a border piece. Stamp the images on the border paper.
-
9
Color in the inked images with pens or pencils. Shade and highlight the images for a more dimensional design.
-
10
Adhere the border to the scrapbook layout.
Paper-Punched Border
-
11
Choose paper-punch shapes for the cave border for the scrapbook page. Punch images of clay pottery, bats, spelunking tools, and birds as well as letters from scraps of scrapbooking paper.
-
12
Arrange the punched-out images onto a thin rectangular piece of scrapbooking paper until the desired effect is achieved.
-
13
Adhere the paper punchies to the border paper. Let dry thoroughly. Use chalk, pens and colored pencils to add shading and highlights to the shapes.
