How to Grind With Heelys
Heelys is one of the most popular brands of roller shoes and come in a large variety of colors, styles and sizes. Heelys Pro Series model shoes feature heavy duty nylon grind plates, a removable mega-wheel with Abec 7 bearings, and shock absorbent soles, according to the official Heelys website. Grinds are performed when a skater jumps onto a grind rail and slides down it, making contact with the grind rail only with the grind plates on the Heelys shoes.

1
Prepare for the grind by practicing jumping onto and off of the grind rail while standing in one spot instead of taking a running start. This will help you find a good spot to jump onto the grind rail from and give you a good idea of how high you will have to jump as well.
-
2
Run up to the grind rail at a moderate speed and jump onto the grind rail from the starting spot you have chosen. Land on the rail with the only the grind plates of the Heelys touching the rail so that the grind is smooth and does not get stopped by the soles of the shoes.

3
Stay balanced by crouching low to the rail while grinding. Do not let your feet move from their locked positions on the grind rail until you are ready to finish the grind.
-
4
Finish the grind by jumping off of the rail or letting yourself slide off of the rail and catching yourself on your feet just before reaching the ground.

Tips & Warnings
Add a 180 or 360 degree spin while you are jumping off of the grind rail to make grinding even more fun.
Always check to make sure that the grind rail is smooth. Heelys grind plates can get stuck on objects that are sticking out of grind rails.
Wear knee pads, elbow pads and a helmet while skating to decrease the risk of serious injury.
