How to Make an Invitation Using Word
When you need party or event invitations and you are feeling creative, use Microsoft Word to make your own homemade invitations on your computer. The Microsoft website has an extensive collection of free templates available for download directly to your computer. Once you have installed a template on your computer, it is a simple process to access it in the Microsoft Word program and add your personal information to the invitation.
Instructions
-
-
1
Visit the Microsoft website and click the "Templates" tab near the top right corner of the web page.
-
2
Click the "Product Categories" tab and then select "Microsoft Office Word" to open the template categories for Word.
-
-
3
Find the "Invitations" heading and select the kind of invitation you desire beneath this heading.
-
4
Browse through the invitations, looking for invitations with the Microsoft Word icon to the right of the invitation title. Click on any invitation title to look at the invitation more closely.
-
5
Select an invitation and click the "Download" button. Accept the license agreement and then designate where to store the invitation on your hard drive. Wait while the invitation downloads. It will open automatically within your Microsoft Word program after it installs.
-
6
Position your cursor over the text in the invitation and click it once. Press the backspace key to delete the sample text you see on the invitation. Enter your own invitation information in place of the sample text. Continue adding your own text to the invitation until your invitation looks the way you desire.
-
7
Save the edited invitation on your hard drive by giving it a new name.
-
8
Print out the invitation with your color printer. Use card stock to create a card-weight invitation. If your invitation has two sides or it is a card that opens, print only the first page and then reinsert the same paper to print on the opposite side of the card stock.
