How to Make Your Own Valentine Cards for Kids
For adults, Valentine's Day is a holiday that is intended to give them the opportunity to show their significant other the depth of their devotion. For kids, Valentine's Day means sharing notes and candy with their friends. Help your child create Valentine's cards for the children in his classroom that feature whimsical, less-sentimental themes. These cards are guaranteed to make your child the hit of the classroom this February 14.

Instructions
-
Butterfly Treat Card
-
1
Fold a piece of pink construction paper in half vertically.
-
2
Draw the shape of a heart onto one side of the paper. The base of the heart should be thicker because when unfolded, these hearts will act as the butterfly's wings.
-
-
3
Unfold the paper to make the butterfly's wings. Glue a stick candy cane vertically between the two wings to make the butterfly's body. Allow the glue to dry.
-
4
Tie a six-inch piece of ribbon around the top of the candy cane, making sure that the two ends of the ribbon are equal.
-
5
Curl the ribbon on both sides by grasping either end between your thumb and the blade of a scissor. Carefully pull the ribbon through.
-
6
Decorate the butterfly in any design of your choosing with color crayons. Flip the butterfly over and write a Valentine's Day message to the card's recipient.
Marble Hearts
-
7
Draw a heart shape onto two different shades of construction paper. The hearts do not need to be the same size, but they must be small enough to fit inside a shoe box.
-
8
Cut the heart shapes out with a pair of scissors. Lay the hearts on the bottom of the shoebox.
-
9
Pour a few ounces of paint into a plastic squirt bottle. Squirt a small amount of paint onto the two hearts.
-
10
Drop two marbles inside the box. Pick up the box and move it from side to side. This will allow the marble to make patterns on the hearts.
-
11
Remove the marbles and allow the paint to dry. Remove the hearts and write Valentine's messages on both hearts.
