Obtain clothing to use as the foundation of the costume. For a girl's costume, you should use a dark shirt and skirt combination or a dark-colored dress. Black, gray, and brown items work best. The skirt should be full length; however, you may also use a shorter skirt with dark leggings or tights underneath. Choose dark shoes to match your outfit.

Create a Pilgrim collar. Tape two pieces of white construction paper together. Place a large mixing bowl in the center of your paper and trace around it with a pencil. Use scissors to cut out the large circle. Place a smaller cereal bowl in the center of the large circle and trace around it. Cut out the center circle with your scissors. Also cut a slit at any point on the circle so that your collar can be put on and removed with ease.

Create a Pilgrim bonnet. Tape two pieces of white construction paper together. Use a ruler to measure 2 inches from the long end of your paper and create a fold at this point. Use a hole punch to make one hole on both the right and left sides of the paper just above the fold line. On the opposite side from the front fold, draw and cut two 3-inch slits with 4 inches between them. Fold the center piece down and attach the two side pieces to it using glue, tape, or staples. Run a 12-inch piece of yarn or ribbon through each of the front two holes to create bonnet ties.

Create a Pilgrim apron. Tape two pieces of white construction paper together. Fold the top piece of the paper down 1 to 2 inches. Use the hole punch to create holes on the fold. Run a 14-inch piece of yarn or ribbon through each one of the holes to create apron ties. Fold the apron vertically so that both of the holes match up. Use scissors to round off the square edge on the fold line. You could also use scissors to make a scalloped edge. Unfold the completed apron.
