How to Cure and Reverse Fatty Liver Disease

How to Cure and Reverse Fatty Liver Disease thumbnail
Combat fatty liver disease with a healthy diet.

Failing to monitor your fat intake and regularly consuming unhealthy foods often leads to a buildup of fat in the body. Sometimes fat can accumulate in the liver and result in fatty liver disease. Early or mild cases of fatty liver are rarely serious. But if you don't take steps to reduce your body fat and reverse fatty liver, complications such as scarring of the liver or liver failure can occur.

Instructions

    • 1

Fight obesity. Take steps to lose weight with regular exercise and other forms of physical activity. Get into a routine of exercising for 30 to 60 minutes at least three times a week to maintain a healthy weight and reverse fatty liver.

    • 2

Toss out unhealthy foods. Stocking your refrigerator and cabinets with fatty foods and high-calorie foods can complicate or worsen fatty liver disease. Change your eating habits and consume healthier foods such as fresh fruits, lean meats, vegetables, salads and other low-calorie meals.

    • 3

Work your core muscles. Don't rely on high-impact workouts such as aerobics or jogging to reverse fatty liver disease. Fat accumulation around the abdomen can induce fatty liver. Slim your abdomen with abdominal crunches, Pilates or leg lifts.

    • 4

Limit alcohol intake. Alcohol stresses the liver, which can slow the reversibility of fatty liver disease. Replace cocktails, beers, wines and other alcoholic beverages with non-alcoholic drinks until your condition improves.
