Instructions

    • 1

Ventilate the area where the range is being used. Outdoor ranges (which frequently use propane) should never be used indoors, and there should be a good airflow in the area around the gas range to prevent any gas buildup.

    • 2

Inspect the flame on the range to make sure the flame is blue. A blue flame indicates that the fuel is being completely burned, while a yellow flame means an air inlet is clogged or that the burners need adjusting.

    • 3

Turn on the gas to the grill area on the range. Some ranges have a specific grilling area in between the burners, while others have a grill attachment that fits over one of the burners. The gas is turned on by twisting the appropriate knob that corresponds to that portion of the range. Outdoor grills require you to turn on the gas flow as well from the tank by twisting open the valve.

    • 4

Place your food on the grill and add any spices or sauces to it while it is cooking. You can also marinade the food prior to putting it on the grill if you prefer to pre-treat the food.

    • 5

Use tongs or a spatula to flip over the food every few minutes so it gets cooked evenly on both sides.

    • 6

Cut open any meat or fish on the grill with a knife to check the coloring in the center. Keep the food on the grill until it is cooked all the way through to avoid the risk of food poisoning.

    • 7

Turn off the gas once the food is cooked by turning the appropriate knob in the opposite direction from before into the off position. Outdoor grills need to have the gas tank valve twisted shut as well to prevent gas leaks.
