How to Create Unique Press Kits
Press kits are a great way to distribute a lot of information about your organization all at once. Although they are called "press" kits, they can also be given to customers and potential clients as well. Creating unique press kits requires a little planning and some attention to detail, but it is well worth the effort.

1
Choose a folder to hold the contents of your press kit. These do not have to be expensive. Two-pocket folders, which come in a variety of colors, are fine. You just want a clean and attractive holder for your information.
-
2
Print shipping labels, approximately 4 inches by 3 inches, that contain the following information: the name of your organization or business centered and in large print; a graphic, such as a logo or any other image you use, to represent your organization; and your business address, phone number, website or e-mail address in smaller print along the bottom of the label. Stick the labels onto the front covers of the pocket folders.

3
Gather information about your organization to include in your press kit. Common pieces of information would be a brief history of your organization; biographies or profiles of the key people in your organization; testimonials from satisfied customers; and any positive press clippings or Internet articles that mention your organization.

4
Write a one-page cover letter that introduces yourself and your organization, as well as your products or services. Explain if you are a new organization or business, or if you are an existing organization offering new products or services.
-
5
Print or copy your information and cover letter onto stationery that features your organization's name, street address, phone number, website and e-mail address.
-
6
Insert all of the pages of information and the cover letter into the folders. Staple a business card to the cover letter only if business cards are readily available.
