Instructions

Turn off your car and remove the key from the ignition. Disconnect the negative terminal wire from your car's battery. This will eliminate the chance of accidentally shocking yourself.

Remove the trim from around the stereo. Place the screwdriver in the crevice of the dashboard and the trim and gently pry it loose. Some trim panels may have additional screws or clips holding it in place. In that case, remove the screws or clips and put them in a safe place. Once the trim is loose, you can pull it out, exposing the stereo unit.

Locate any screws or clips holding the car stereo to the dashboard. Use the DIN tools if the stereo is attached with spring clips. Insert the tools into holes on the stereo. You will hear a "click" when the spring clips are released. Pull the stereo out of the dash by spreading the tools slightly apart and pulling. If there are screws holding the stereo to the dashboard they will be visible and easily accessible. In most cases there will only be four screws. Unscrew and remove them and pull the stereo unit from the dashboard.

Disconnect the wires connecting the stereo to your car wiring. There will be a plastic wiring harness in the back of the unit connecting it to the car's electrical system. Unplug the harness to completely disconnect the unit. If your stereo has an additional antenna connection, also unplug it to complete the removal process.

Tips & Warnings
