How to Pick Up an International Call on a Cell Phone
If you have friends and family members in other countries, you want to receive their phone calls and talk to them whenever they are available. Because of time zone differences, you may be at work or traveling at the times they want to talk, so giving them your cell phone number is an ideal way to keep in touch. You can pick up an international call on a cell phone by understanding how to spot an international call and how to answer it.

1
Check your cell phone service plan to make sure you have enough minutes on your plan to answer an international phone call. Because the person dialing a call is the one who incurs international charges with an international phone call, an incoming international call on your cell phone does not cause you to pay any additional tolls outside of using your normal cell phone minutes. Dial 611 then press "Send" on your cell phone to be connected to a customer service representative with your cell phone provider. Ask the representative how many minutes you have. If you have available minutes on your cell phone, you will be allowed to pick up an international call.

2
Look at the caller ID on your cell phone to spot an incoming international phone call. An incoming international phone call is listed as having more than just the standard 10-digit American phone number, because incoming international calls include the country code of the number of the person calling you.
