Instructions

    • 1

Drill a hole in the bottom of the hanging planter pot using the hole saw. The hole should be large enough that you can feed the tomato plant through, but not large enough that it will fall through.

    • 2

Cut a piece of landscaping fabric to fit in the bottom of the pot. This is so that the soil will not wash through the pot when you are watering the plant.

    • 3

Cut an "X" in the fabric that is just large enough for you to fit the tomato plant root ball through. If the "X" is cut too large, the tomato plant will have difficulty staying in the pot.

    • 4

Feed the tomato plant up through the bottom of the planter upside down.

    • 5

Fill the planter with potting soil to hold the pot in place. The plant should be coming out of the bottom of the pot with only the roots contained within the pot itself. If you have difficulty holding the plant in place while adding soil, solicit the help of someone else to make sure that the plant stays in place.

    • 6

Tamp the dirt carefully around the roots to hold them in place. Water normally.
