How Do You Work Disposable Cigarette Lighters?

When you need a reliable flame for lighting a candle or a cigarette, use a disposable cigarette lighter to create a flame. The price of disposable lighters is nominal because you cannot refill them. When the butane fluid is gone, discard the lighter. Depending upon the lighter design, it may or may not have a childproof design that prevents children from operating the lighter. Work disposable cigarette lighters to create a flame whenever you need one.

Instructions

1. Look at the design of the disposable lighter to ascertain whether it has a childproof design or not. If you find a button to depress in addition to rotating the sparkwheel, you will need to hold the lighter to enable a finger to press this button.

2. Find the lever that controls the height of the flame. Push the lever toward the left to create a smaller flame.

3. Hold the lighter in your dominant hand with your fingers grasping the lighter, your thumb on the sparkwheel and your finger on the childproof button (if applicable).

4. Depress the childproof button (if applicable) and push your thumb firmly down on the sparkwheel to force it to turn. You must turn the sparkwheel briskly in order to create a flame. After pushing the sparkwheel with your thumb, press the button beneath the sparkwheel to hold the flame and make the lighter stay lit.

5. Repeat the previous step until you succeed in making a flame. This may take several tries if you are new to lighting a disposable lighter.

6. Release the button beneath the sparkwheel to extinguish the flame when you finish with it.

• Keep all lighters (childproof or otherwise) out of the reach of children.
