Proxy servers redirect an Internet browser.

A proxy is a redirect, or detour, in an Internet browser. It tells the browser to go to that destination first and then leave from there to the original site. This can be used for a variety of purposes. For example, an Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) server will block certain requests for sites and speed up the access to other websites. However, if the proxy is not working in favor of productivity, it's fairly easy to bypass the proxy and go directly out to the destination site.

Instructions

    • 1

      Open the preferred web browser.

    • 2

      Go to "Internet Options" (or "Options").

    • 3

      Go to the connection tab. Select LAN settings if necessary

    • 4

      Uncheck any boxes enabled for proxy connections.

    • 5

      Click "OK" or apply it to any boxes that are open, and re-open the browser.
