How to Search for MySpace Profiles

MySpace, one of the most popular social networking websites, allows users to create custom profiles that can be viewed by visitors or other MySpace users. MySpace allows users to create either a personal account or a music account. If you want to locate someone's profile, you can do so through the website's profile search feature.

Instructions

1. Log on to the MySpace homepage and find the "Find Your Friends on MySpace" column. Input the name or email address of the user you are searching for into the "Find or browse members" text field. Click the "Go" button to begin the search.

2. Look through the returned search results for the profile to see if it was located. If an overwhelming amount of profiles have been returned or you do not see the users profile you are searching for, proceed to step three to learn how to use the "Filter Results" feature.

3. Click on the "All Name Fields" drop-down list and choose an option from the selections given to search for the MySpace profile by "All Name Fields", "Display Name" or "Email" and click on the preferred search method.

4. Click on either the "Male" or the "Female" button to filter search results by gender. Click on the "Both" button if you do not want to filter the search results by gender.

5. Select an age range to filter the search results further by using the two drop-down lists provided next to the "Age" label. The first list will determine the minimum age and the second list will determine the maximum age limit. Click on each drop-down list and select an age between ages 18 and 68.

6. Enter a city, state, zip code or country into the provided text field to search for MySpace profiles in a specific location. If you have entered a location, click on the drop-down list labeled "Distance" and select a range between 25 and 100 miles to limit the search results within that location. If you would like to search MySpace profiles in all locations, leave this field empty and do not click on the "Distance" list.

7. Click on the check box next to the "Only show users who have photos" label if you believe the MySpace profile you are searching for has a photo. Click on the check box next to the "Show names and photos only" label to limit the search results to showing only the names and photos of the MySpace users featured in the returned search results.

8. Click the "Update" button to update the search results with the information entered in the "Filter Results" column. Browse through the newly filtered results and locate the MySpace profile. Click on the correct MySpace profile photo or user name to view the profile.

Tips & Warnings

• MySpace users have the option of excluding their profile from public search results. If you cannot find a certain profile, this may be the cause.
