How to Cook With a Stove-Top Smoker
A stove-top smoker gives you the flavor of outdoor smoked foods with the convenience of inside preparation. Use a stove-top smoker to infuse your food with a smoky flavor once only available on an outdoor grill. Even if you live in an apartment, you can have freshly smoked food for any meal of the day. Things You'll Need
- Stove-top smoker
- 2 tablespoons wood chips
- Drip pan
- Aluminum foil
- Cooking rack
- Cooking spray
- Food for smoking
- Lid for smoker

Place the stove-top smoker on top of the largest burner on your stove.

Pour two tablespoons of wood chips into the bottom of the smoker to cover the area directly over the burner.

Cover the drip pan with a layer of aluminum foil and place the pan over the wood chips in the smoker.

Spray the cooking rack with cooking spray and set it over the drip tray in the stove top smoker.

Arrange the food for smoking on top of the cooking rack and partially cover the smoker with the lid, leaving the lid ajar one inch.

Turn the stove burner on medium heat until you see smoke emerge from beneath the lid.

Close the lid completely and begin to time your smoking. Smoke according to the time given in your recipe. Generally, fish smoke for 22 to 28 minutes, hamburgers for 20 minutes, vegetables for eight to 18 minutes, chicken for 30 to 35 minutes and ribs or pork for 45 minutes.

Turn off the heat and serve the smoked food unless the recipe requires additional browning in the oven.
