When it comes to snowboarding, have a nice layer of wax on the bottom of your snowboard can help you glide across the snow. From catching air off jumps to negotiating moguls, a thin layer of wax will improve your speed and accuracy while your on the slopes. But before you put the new layer of wax on, you want to remove any remnants of the old layer. Here's how to use a credit card to remove wax off your snowboard.

  • Snowboard
  • Credit card
  • Towel

      Lay your snowboard on a towel. Flip over your snowboard and rest it on a towel so that you don't damage the front.

      Press the credit card. Using a credit card you don't really care about, press the edge of the credit card against the surface of the snowboard so that the credit card is at about a 45 degree angle.

      Scrape the snowboard. Begin to move your hand back and forth while applying slight amount of pressure. You will start to see little pieces of wax scrape away. As they build up brush them onto the towel out of your way.

      Remove all of the wax. Continue to scrape the entire surface of the snowboard bottom until all of the wax has been removed.

Tips & Warnings

  • You don't have to worry about pressing too hard on the snowboard as the plastic of the credit card can't damage the underside surface.

  • Never use a metal edge to scrape the underside of your snowboard. The metal edge can damage the surface, scraping it and making it uneven.
