How to Watch YouTube on a Phone

Many phones have Internet access.

Mobile phones are not just for talking and texting. Many mobile phone providers, especially for smartphones, offer Internet access directly from your mobile phone. Although not all phones have this feature, contact your mobile phone provider and ask if a web option is available. Once your phone is able to access the Internet, use it to stream videos from YouTube just as you would any computer. YouTube recommends signing up for an unlimited data plan with your phone service. Although watching YouTube is free, providers typically charge for data use on your phone.

Instructions

1. Select the "Internet" or "Web Connection" option on your phone to connect to the Internet. Smartphones such as the iPhone or Android typically have an Internet button on the main touchscreen.

2. Type in "www.youtube.com" in the phone's web browser. The mobile version of YouTube will appear on your phone's screen.

3. Click "Sign In" to sign into your YouTube account if desired. You do not need an account to watch videos on YouTube.

4. Enter a keyword or phrase of the video you want to watch into the YouTube "Search" bar and hit "Search" to bring up a list of videos.

5. Click on the video you want to watch and hit "Play."
