Mopping a tile floor is easy.

You've just had a tile floor installed or have moved into a new home and are unfamiliar with tile floor care. You then go to the grocery store and browse the many cleaning products designed specially for tile flooring. The prices of these products are high, and you are unsure which is the best match for your floor. Instead of wasting money on a cleaning product that may or may not work, make your own cleaning solution. Does this Spark an idea?

  • Dust mop
  • Mop
  • Water
  • Vinegar
  • Dish soap

      Dust the floors at least once per week with a dust mop.

      Mop the floors with a cleaning mop moistened slightly with warm water. Often this is all that is required for basic tile maintenance.

      Remove sticky and heavy residue with a homemade cleaning solution. Pour 1 gallon warm water, 1/2 cup vinegar and 1 tbsp. dish soap into a cleaning bucket.

      Dip a mop into the cleaning solution and then wring out the mop.

      Wipe the mop across the tile floor, using long back-and-forth strokes. Repeat until the entire tile floor is clean.

      Let the floor air-dry.
