How to Learn Stocks for Kids
The value of money is hard for children to understand. Children enjoy spending money on toys, candy and other goodies. Although this is true, many parents are seeing the value of teaching children to save and invest money. The stock market is one way that kids can learn to value money and there are ways that children can learn about stocks without spending real money.

Play online stock games. Although children cannot directly invest money, there are many online games that teach investing in stocks. They can take the form of learning about buying low and selling high or even giving fake money for children to invest in the stock market. Children learn through hands on experience, so online stock games can be a great way for kids to learn about stocks.

Talk about investment. Many parents don't think to talk to their children about money, beyond suggesting that children save allowance money. By talking about investing money from a young age, children are able to learn about investing skills and ways to increase money over time.

Play games designed to teach about the stock market. There are many games that teach children about the stock market without giving the hands on experiences of stock investing. These games are often age-appropriate, going from age 6 until age 18.

Look up the stocks daily. To learn about specific stocks, looking up the performance of the stocks daily can help. It not only gives an idea about the company performance, but it also gives children a historical view of the stocks.

Start a stock game at school. Schools around the country are getting involved in stock games to teach children about finance and investment. This is a way for younger children to experience investing first hand and learn the skills needed for the stock market without risking real money.
