Type and send emails in Outlook using your Comcast email account.

With a massive storage space of 10 gigabyte and the ability to create up to seven email addresses, Comcast provides an incentive to use their email service for your communication needs. If you are a Comcast customer, you can take advantage of this feature at no extra charge. Since Comcast email supports Post Office Protocol (POP3), one of the platforms used by email client programs, you can configure and use your email in Microsoft Outlook.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Outlook 2007, choose "Account settings" from the "Tools" drop down menu, and then click on the "Email" tab.

    • 2

Select the "New" button, choose "Manually configure settings or additional server types," and then click "Next."

    • 3

Choose "Internet Email" and then select "Next."

    • 4

Enter your name and Comcast email address in the "Your name" and "Email address" fields, choose "POP3" from the "Account type" menu, and then type "mail.comcast.net" and "smtp.comcast.net" in the "Incoming mail server" and "Outgoing mail server (SMTP)" boxes.

    • 5

Choose the "More Settings" button, click the "Outgoing Server tab," check the "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" and then select "Use same settings as my incoming mail server."

    • 6

Select the "Advanced" tab, modify the POP3 port value to "110," and then uncheck "This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)" check box, if checked.

    • 7

Change the SMTP port value to "587," select "None" from the "Use this following type of encrypted connection" menu and then choose "OK."

    • 8

Test your settings by selecting "Test Account Settings" under the "Internet Email Settings" screen and then choose "Close" when the process completes.

    • 9

Choose "Next" and then select "Finish." You can send and receive emails in Outlook 2007 using your Comcast email account.
