How to Clean the Filter on a Dirt Devil

Ensure proper air quality after use of your Dirt Devil by cleaning the filter properly.

Dirt Devil bagless upright, hand-held and canister vacuums are equipped with HEPA filters. The pleated filters can trap 99.97 percent of airborne particles. The filters also remove dust, pollen, mold spores, smoke and dust mites, which is important to the quality of air in your home. Dirt Devil recommends cleaning the filter every three use,s and recommends replacement every three to six months. Cleaning of the filter requires no tools and requires minimal steps.

Things You'll Need

• Dirt Devil
• Garbage container or bag
• Running water

Instructions

1. Disconnect the power from the Dirt Devil by unplugging the electrical cord.

2. Depress the button on the top of the dirt container lid and remove the container by grasping the handle on the container and turning the lid counter clockwise.. Empty the dirt container contents into a garbage or bag.

3. Remove the filter from the lid by twisting the filter counter-clockwise. Remove excess dust and dirt by gently tapping the filter on the garbage.

4. Place the filter under running water and rotate it so the streaming water cleans it thoroughly. Do not use any soap or detergent because they will damage the filter. Allow the filter to dry completely for 24 hours.
