How to Hook Up an Onkyo Tuner to a CD Player

Onkyo has designed its tuners to receive satellite and terrestrial radio signals for enjoyment on a set of connected speakers. You must connect the Onkyo tuner to another stereo component, such as an amplifier or self-powered CD player to provide power for the speakers, since the Onkyo tuner is not equipped with an amp. The connection requires a CD player with a set of auxiliary input jacks and standard stereo cables.

Things You'll Need

• Stereo cables with RCA-type plugs on both ends.

Instructions

1. Insert the two plugs on one end of the stereo cables into the two output jacks on the back of the tuner, connecting the white plug to the left audio jack and the red plug to the right.

2. Insert the plugs on the other end of the cable into the matching auxiliary jacks on the CD player.

3. Set the selector knob on the CD player to the auxiliary setting.

4. Turn on the Onkyo and tune to the desired station.

Tips & Warnings

• Depending on your location, you may need to connect an external antenna to the Onkyo to receive radio broadcasts.

• Connect the stereo cable between the components before plugging the tuner or CD player into the electricity.
