How to Eliminate Pet Urine Odor
The cleanest home can seem like an unsanitary place when pet urine odor is present. The smell of pet urine is overpowering. Fortunately, it's possible to remove it. Eradicating pet urine odors is basically the same as removing any other odor--first, neutralize what's causing the odor, then clean away residue that may begin to smell again. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
-
-
1
Pat dry any remaining pet urine, using a rag or towel.
-
2
Spray the enzyme cleaner liberally over the pet urine stain. The only way to rid your home of the smell is to remove the source.
-
-
3
Press the enzyme cleaner down into the stain with a rag or towel, especially in carpets and fabrics.
-
4
Spray the cleaner over the stain again, liberally. Allow the enzyme cleaner to dry on the stain overnight. This gives the enzymes their best chance of removing the stain by reacting and eliminating the uric acid and bacteria causing the odors.
-
5
Pat the stain with a damp rag until semi-saturated, using a bucket of clean water.
-
6
Scrub the stain with a clean rag and more clean water. Continue scrubbing for several minutes.
-
7
Dry the water from the stained spot, using a towel, or allow to dry overnight. If the smell returns, repeat the process from the beginning.

Tips & Warnings
Some urine stains are deep enough that they have reached the wood beneath the flooring and soaked into it. If this is the case, a partial wood replacement may be necessary.
Once the stain and odor are removed, pets will no longer want to urinate in that area.
