How to Check Your Browser Security Settings
Some of the popular browsers available today allow you to control your security settings as you surf the Internet. These are handy tools when you want to assure yourself that you are not going into dangerous territory. These settings also allow you to block certain content from entering your computer.

Start Internet Explorer.

Click "Tools" in the pulldown menu. Select "Internet Options."

Click the "Security" tab.

Select one of the icons in the Web Zone sections. Click the "Sites" button and the browser will show you the sites that pertain to that zone.

Click the "Custom Level" button and the browser will allow you to manipulate your settings.

Click the "Apply" button, and then the "OK" button.

Start Firefox.

Click "Tools" in the pulldown menu, and select "Options."

Click the "Security" tab in the window that appears.

Use the check marks to block certain sites and warn you when sites are installing add-ons. You can also use the page to set whether the browser remembers your passwords.

Click the "Settings" button to set which warning messages you want to see while you surf. Click "OK."
