The insurance will cover a replacement phone if your phone was lost, stolen or damaged. You will have to pay a fee, which is usually significantly cheaper than the full price of a phone.

If you don't have insurance, ask if you can renew your contract for a discount. By renewing, you might be able to get a replacement phone for half price or less. This may not be a bad deal if your contract is almost over or you were planning to renew it. Carriers usually arrange an attractive payment plan, spreading out the price of the phone over a series of bills depending on your credit .

You can also look on eBay and see if you can find your phone model for less than Sprint's price. Electronics and other popular eBay items usually sell for half of retail price or less. Just make sure you read the listing closely as many damaged phones or "parts only" phones are sold on eBay. If you can't find your phone, or a phone you like that is compatible with Sprint, purchasing the phone from Sprint for full price may be your last resort. You would do that by calling customer service or ordering from the Sprint website.
