Tied Fleece Blanket Directions
A tied fleece blanket, one of the easiest home blankets that you can make, is a warm and comfortable crafted treasure that you can give to a child, a friend or a loved one as an alternative to a store-bought gift.
Things You'll Need
- 2 pieces of fleece cloth of the same shape and size
- Sharp scissors
- 4-inch-by-4-inch piece of paper
- Ruler
- Pen or marker
Instructions
-
-
1
Cut off any selvage edges around the sides of your fleece pieces, while maintaining the matching shape and size of your pieces.
-
2
Lay the two pieces of fleece on top of one another and line up the edges. Trim off any excess fabric until they are even.
-
-
3
Place the 4-inch-by-4-inch piece of paper on one of the corners of your blankets and cut out the corners of both blankets around the piece of paper. Repeat this on each of the remaining three corners until all four corners have had 4-inch-by-4-inch pieces of fabric removed.
-
4
Make marks spaced 1 inch apart along the edge of the fabric, using your ruler and pen or marker. Go all the way down one of the sides of your blankets. Then repeat this step on the remaining three sides.
-
5
Cut along the 1-inch marks down all four sides of the two stacked pieces of fleece. Cut 4 inches in from the edge of the two pieces of fleece at each mark until all four sides have many pairs of 1-inch-wide and 4-inch-long fabric strips from both pieces of fleece hanging free.
-
6
Tie every other pair of 1-inch-by-4-inch fleece fabric strips together all the way around the blanket, leaving an untied pair of strips between each tie. For each pair of strips, take the strip from the top piece of fabric and tie it to the corresponding strip on the bottom piece of fabric.
-
7
Flip the blanket over and tie the remaining strips of fleece together to finish your blanket.

Tips & Warnings
Choose any print or solid color of fleece that you desire to make your blanket. You can also choose a printed "top" piece and a solid under piece to create a more attractive blanket if you desire.
Be careful when handling scissors.
