Instructions

    • 1

Write the executive summary. This is the first part of a business plan that potential lenders and investors read. It is an overview of the entire business plan and provides readers with a basic understanding of the entire proposal. Clearly write and explain the business' mission and objectives in the summary.

    • 2

Explain the intended services/products. Thoroughly describe the products that the production company plans to create. Include why the product is needed and what problem it addresses or solves.

    • 3

Describe the market/needs analysis. Explain the need for your product, supporting it with specific research. The research should include your target audience and their demographics as well as an overview of any competing business or organizations.

    • 4

Write the organization/management section. This is where you explain how your production business will be organized and managed. Include a chart of staff members (and their job descriptions) with the CEO or boss listed at the top.

    • 5

Detail the production and operations plan. This section is crucial for a production/manufacturing business because it includes the foundation of what is needed to run the business. Include building lease/purchasing plans (including the floor plan and zoning requirements), equipment/machines needed, the production process and cost, supplier agreements, and shipping/transporting arrangements and costs.

    • 6

Create the strategy and implementation summary. Plan how you will market and advertise your product. Include the marketing tools you intended to use (commercials, fliers, brochures, etc...), who will create them, and how they will be distributed.

    • 7

Write the financial plan. Create an annual budget that includes specific dollar amounts for expenses and revenues. Include where you will get the money to fund your production business, such as grants, loans, or investors. Also explain your insurance plans that detail product and personal liability.

Tips & Warnings

  • Include a cover page with your business name, the author of the business plan and contact information.

  • Write a table of contents and place it after the cover page.
