How to Make Chinese Paper Popers

You can use construction paper to make your Chinese paper popper.

Chinese paper poppers, also known as paper firecrackers or origami paper poppers, will produce a loud pop when made properly. A favorite of school-age children, the Chinese paper popper can be made from any type of paper (although the thicker the paper the sturdier the popper). Chinese paper poppers are easy to make, and cheap, too. And the best part is, once you have made your popper pop, simply refold to use again.

Things You'll Need

• 8 X 11.5 paper

Instructions

1. Fold your paper in half horizontally, open back up, and fold the paper in half vertically. Re-open. This will create four distinct sections.

2. Fold all four corners in toward the center crease. This will give you a triangle on either side of your paper.

3. Fold the paper in half horizontally.

4. Fold both the left and the right side toward the center crease. You want the edge to touch the crease, and the pointy part to be at the bottom of the paper.

5. Turn the paper over and fold the paper in half vertically.

6. Grab the popper by the pointy corner (crease pointing toward you) and snap your hand forward to make the Chinese paper popper pop.
