How to Decorate With Cupcake Stands

Cupcake stands are an attractive addition to any festive occasion.

Cupcake stands or towers can be used in place of a tiered cake for just about any occasion. Smaller models can be used as accent pieces and large elaborate styles can be used in feature displays. Cupcake stands are available in a variety of styles and sizes. They typically consist of at least three tiers of graduated sizes. Cupcake stands can be used with just the cupcakes as decorations or embellished with fanciful accessories that fit in with the associated party theme.

Things You'll Need

• Cupcakes
• Cupcake stand
• Miscellaneous decorative items (such as ribbons, paper flowers, candy)
• Glue (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare or purchase the cupcakes. Cupcakes should be completely frosted and decorated prior to placement on the cupcake stand.

2. Prepare the cupcake stand as directed by the manufacturer.

3. Decorate the cupcake stand if desired. Embellishments such as ribbon, bric-a-brac, lace, paper or silk flowers may be glued around the edges of a cardboard stand. Paper doilies or bits of colorful fabric can adorn the flat display portions of the tiers. Tuck attractive items around the cupcakes such as pieces of chocolate, candy or fresh fruit. Stand toppers might include a bouquet of flowers, porcelain figures or a jar of colorful candy.

4. Display your cupcake stand. Place large dramatic displays for weddings and formal events alone on a table. Use a smaller, more casual display as an interactive centerpiece (great for kids' parties). Include a mini-cupcake stand as part of a dessert table or coffee tray.

Tips & Warnings

• With cardboard cupcake stands you put together yourself, it's easiest to glue on decorations before the stand is constructed.

• For decorative items, using color schemes and items that match your party's theme will make the cupcake stand more festive.

• Further embellish a stand-alone cupcake tower display by scattering decorations such as flower petals on the table top or by arranging chocolates or additional cupcakes around the tower.

• When using fresh flowers as decorations, ensure they are edible and safe for use around food.
