by Maggie O'Leary

Replacing a headlight assembly in your vehicle is a simple process. You'll need some simple tools that are common to most households. This task can be done in about 10 minutes right in your own garage or driveway.

Step 1

Remove the front grill. Depending upon the year and model of your car, you may need to remove your vehicle's front grill. This can be done by removing the screws from the top or sides of the grill.

Step 2

Remove the screws that secure the headlight assembly to the vehicle. These screws are usually located on the top and bottom of the headlight.

Step 3

Unplug the wiring from the back of the headlight assembly. Then, gently pull the old headlight assembly from the vehicle and set it aside.

Step 4

Replace the headlight assembly by inserting the new assembly into place and replacing the screws. Plug the wiring into the back of the headlight assembly and screw the assembly back into the vehicle.

Step 5

Insert the grill back into place and replace the screws to hold it in place.
