How to Clean a Camelbak Water Hose

After prolonged use of your Camelbak hydration system, you may notice some black material in the seams of the bladder and the tubing. This means it's time to give your Camelbak a thorough cleaning. The most challenging part of cleaning your Camelbak is the tubing, but the procedure is not too difficult when you follow the appropriate steps.

Things You'll Need

• Camelbak system
• Derailleur cable
• Paper towels
• Soap

Instructions

1. Pull the tubing away from the bladder.

2. Remove the bit valve from the end of the tubing.

3. Push a clean derailleur cable through the entire length of the tubing, knob-end first.

4. Slide a small piece of paper towel moistened with soapy water through the cable.

5. Pull the cable through the tube slowly while squeezing the tube together 1 inch in front of the knob-end of the cable.

6. Repeat Steps 1 through 5 until the paper towel comes out clean.
