How to Stop Gambling Sites From Popping Up

Anybody who uses the Internet frequently without the help of a pop-up blocker probably notices a lot of gambling site pop-up ads. Gambling sites sometimes contract with other sites to display their pop-ups when a Web user opens a website. Gambling websites get exposure that they normally would not receive thanks to these pop-up ads. However, as a Web user, you have the choice to decide whether you want for these kinds of pop-ups to appear on your computer. Enabling the pop-up blocker will stop gambling sites from popping up.

Instructions

On a Windows-based computer

1. Click the "Start" button, then "Internet Explorer."

2. Click the "Tools" menu at the top of the page. Select "Pop-up Blocker."

3. Click "Turn On Pop-up Blocker." Your computer will now block gambling pop-up ads.

On a Mac

1. Click the "Safari" icon in your dock. Safari will open.

2. Click the "Safari" menu at the top of the browser screen.

3. Choose "Block Pop-up Windows." Gambling sites no longer will pop up on your Mac.
