  • Ladder
  • Scrubbing pad and brush
  • Mineral oil
  • Naval jelly
  • Paper towels

      Climb onto the roof using a sturdy ladder.

      Use a scrubbing pad to scrub off as much of the rust as you can from the roof.

      Pour mineral oil onto a paper towel and apply the oil to the rust on the metal roof. Wait about 30 minutes for the oil to soak in. Scrub at the rust with a scrubbing brush. Use a damp paper towel to wipe the area clean. Dry the area.

      Apply naval jelly if any rust remains. Put on gloves and put naval jelly onto a clean cloth and apply it to the metal roof. Wait 15 to 20 minutes. Scrub off the rust with a scrubbing brush. Clean the area with a damp cloth.
