By default, every time you update or install a new program onto your system, a "restore point" is created. Restore points can be used to restore your computer back to the settings that were in use at an earlier time. This is often done to undo erroneous effects of installing software, but can also be helpful in combating viruses. You can restore your computer to the way it was working one week before the present date by using "System Restore."

Click "Start."

Click "All Programs."

Click "Accessories."

Click "System Tools."

Step 5

Click "System Restore."

Step 6

Click "Next."

Step 7

Select a date on screen that you'd like to use as your "Restore Point."

Step 8

Click "Next" to review the changes you are about to make to your computer.

Step 9

Click "Finish" to restore your computer back to the way it was working on an earlier date.
