All Web browsers maintain a record of the websites you visit. They track the title and address of every page visited, along with the date and time associated with each visit. Taken together, this information allows anyone with access to your browser to view your comprehensive browsing history. Thankfully, removing this information from your browser -- including its address bar -- is a quick process. Whether you use Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome or Opera, deleting your history takes just a few clicks.

Instructions

  1. In Internet Explorer

      Click "Tools" in the top menu bar.

      Select "Delete Browsing History."

      Check only the box labeled "History" and click "Delete" in Internet Explorer 8. If you use Internet Explorer 7, simply click the "Delete History" button.

    In Firefox

      Click "Tools" in the top menu bar.

      Select "Clear Recent History."

      Select "Everything" from the "Time range to clear" drop-down menu.

      Check only the box labeled "Browsing & Download History."

      Click "Clear Now."

    In Chrome

      Click the "Tools" icon in the top-right corner of the window.

      Select "Options."

      Select the "Under the Hood" tab and click "Clear browsing data."

      Check only the box labeled "Clear browsing history" and select "Everything" from the "Clear data from this period" drop-down menu.

      Click "Clear browsing data."

    In Opera

      Click "Tools" in the top menu bar.

      Select "Delete Private Data."

      Check three boxes: "Clear history of visited pages," "Clear history of typed-in addresses," and "Clear history of visited links."

      Click "Delete."
