How to Use a Decal Set
Decal set is a chemical that is used to hold decals in place properly. It is generally used by people who build scale models, such as cars, planes and boats. There are several manufacturers of decal set, usually available at craft stores and hobby shops.

1
Tape all areas of the model that are supposed to be clear or see through. Spray the model with a single coat of clear glosscote lacquer. Other types of clear paint may cause the plastic of your model to melt. Decals adhere to smooth surfaces the best, and a shiny clear coat is about as smooth as you can get. Allow the clear coat to dry completely.

2
Cut the decals from the decal sheet with scissors or a razor knife.

3
Dip the decal into a bowl of water for 5 seconds. Work with only one decal at a time. Take the decal out of the water and set it on a paper towel to dry for 1 minute.
-
4
Slide the decal to the edge of the backing paper with a small paint brush. Using the paint brush, slip the decal onto the model where you want it. Be sure to work very carefully, since the decals are extremely fragile and will tear easily.
-
5
Brush a small amount of decal set onto the decal to help it conform to the surface of the model. Allow the decal to dry for 24 hours.
-
6
Spray the model with another coat of clear glosscote lacquer. Once it is dry, you can remove the masking tape from the clear or see through areas of the model.
