How to Install Klipsch Pro Audio Subwoofers

How to Install Klipsch Pro Audio Subwoofers thumbnail
Hook up a pair of Klipsch subwoofers with an adapter to the receiver's "Sub Out" jack.

Klipsch manufactures high-end audio loudspeakers and powered subwoofers for home theaters. The company's subwoofers are equipped with powerful amplifiers to rock the room with low-frequency bass effects. If one subwoofer isn't enough to knock pictures off the walls, then two Klipsch Pro Audio subwoofers can be connected, even if the AV receiver has only one subwoofer output jack. The trick is to connect the subs to a Y-adapter audio cable that can then be hooked up to the single receiver jack. Since the subwoofers supply their own power, hooking up a pair to a receiver won't strain the rest of the system.

Things You'll Need

  • Three subwoofer cables
  • Y adapter with three 1/4-inch jacks
  • AV receiver

Instructions

    • 1

Plug one end of a subwoofer cable into the "Sub Out" jack on the back of an AV receiver, then insert the other end into one of the jacks on the Y-adapter.

    • 2

Connect a subwoofer cable to each of the two remaining jacks on the Y-adapter, then plug the other ends into the input jack on the back of each Klipsch subwoofer.

    • 3

Plug the Klipsch electrical cords into a power outlet and press the "Power" button on the back of each sub to activate.

    • 4

Adjust the volume control knob on the back panel of each Klipsch to the desired level. If the subs are placed on opposite sides of the room, adjust both to the same volume level for best results and a balanced bass sound.

Tips & Warnings

  • Connect subwoofer cables to the subs and receiver before connecting the electronics to the power.
