How to Make a Bootable Floppy Disk

A bootable floppy disk contains DOS (disk operating system) files. These files enable you to boot your computer to a DOS prompt and troubleshoot issues when you cannot boot into your standard operating system. Use the disk-creation tools in your operating system to make a bootable disk. Most PCs today do not include a floppy drive, but the option to make a bootable floppy still exists.

• Blank floppy

Instructions

1. Place the floppy into the floppy drive.

2. Click "Start" and click "Computer."

3. Right-click the floppy drive and select "Format."

4. Check "Create a DOS Startup Disk" and press "Enter."
